Yad Vashem Postcard Project
A series of postcards designed for International Holocaust Remembrance Day, 2014. This project was done in collaboration with The International School for Holocaust Studies at Yad Vashem. The task was to design postcards that will provide a basis for age-appropriate activities which will later be implemented in formal and informal educational settings by Yad Vashem.
The project’s themes deal with preserving the memory of the Holocaust and shaping its memory throughout the world.
Google has become synonymous with information, and the phrase "Google it" has become a replacement for: "search for information". A simple search of the words "Hitler" or "Holocaust" in English instantly results in the most common searches in the world. These results directly effect how the Holocaust is perceived by those who read those results. The searches on the postcards are actually results that came up; they invite the viewer to discover the magnitude of this phenomenon, while simultaneously posing questions about the accuracy of the information and how it helps to preserve memory.
The second series uses a motif made famous by Pantone and condenses each holocaust theme into one specific color that defines that subject. It’s amazing how much we can infer from just a color.
